The course presents both theoretical and practical aspects of electric transformers. Transformer classifications, construction, theory of operation, equivalent circuit, efficiency, and regulation are covered. Methods of cooling (liquid–type and dry–type), three phase connections, special purpose transformers, e.g. induction furnace transformers and auto–transformers are also introduced. The transformer protection and testing are outlined as well. The course includes laboratory experimental setup for transformers.
